For many gamers, E3 2021 hasn't churned out as many big announcements as expected. Many would say it was a disappointment so far, but Nintendo changed that with a bevy of game reveals and updates that was enough to satisfy fans. No, Nintendo didn't reveal an updated Switch as many predicted; instead, they surprised fans with the announcement of "Metroid Dread," a remake of its "Advance Wars" series, a new "WarioWare" entry and a Game & Watch for "The Legend of Zelda's" 35th anniversary. Oh, franchise supervisor Eiji Aonuma also showed off clips from a "Breath of the Wild" sequel. "Metroid Dread" was the biggest piece of news coming from the showcase -- While everyone was predicting a "Mario Kart 9" or "Pikmin 4," few were expecting a return of the the classic "Metroid" 2D gameplay.

Nintendo has delayed a crucial video presentation around its Nintendo Switch and 3DS games consoles after a powerful earthquake hit Hokkaido, Japan. The major quake, which struck shortly before 3am local time this morning (7pm BST/ 2pm ET yesterday), left 5.3 million without electricity and at least eight people dead. More than 150 people have been injured in the natural disaster, which measured around 6.7 on the Richter magnitude scale. Nintendo had planned to reveal details around a slew of new video game titles coming to its Nintendo Switch and 3DS consoles in time for the holiday season. However, the video presentation, which is streamed live on the Japanese firm's website as well as YouTube, will be rescheduled.


Nintendo NX Launching On Oct. 21? New Report Claims 5th Year Anniversary Of Nintendo Direct Is Big Hint

Nintendo has been very secretive of its newest console that nothing official is known about it up to now. However, a new report is claiming that the Japanese video game company could take the wraps off of its new console this month as part of the fifth year anniversary of Nintendo Direct. According to Squish Turtle, there is a possibility that Nintendo could be introducing the Nintendo NX to the public on Oct. 21 of this year during the broadcast of Nintendo Direct. The site claims one of the reasons for this is to coincide the device's launch with the fifth year anniversary of Nintendo Direct that was first released online back in 2011. The pre-recorded broadcast is usually done to announce and promote big titles and smaller indie games to fans.
